TWO ACCIDENTS IN WILLIAMSPORT! Saturday July 11, 2009 Across from the Firehouse/Squad bay, 3 agencies held training in vehicle accident scenes. The Williamsport Volunteer Fire Department, the Pick-A-Fay Joint Fire District, Williamsport & Deercreek Emergency Squad and a Basic EMT class from PRCTC once again joined forces to train in the extrication and emergency medical care of vehicle accident victims. Through the continued support and a generous donation of vehicles from Deercreek Auto Parts of Williamsport and Brian Wisecup, this and previous training exercises would not be possible. Members from all the departments and the Basic EMT class wish to thank Mr. Wisecup for his service to the community. The scenarios were planned and supervised by Chief Mike Murphy of both WVFD and Pick-A-Fay, Chief Gary Wright of WADES and Instructor Brian Graves of PRCTC. The day's training focused on patient entrapment and rapid medical care with an emphasis on "inter-departmental" communications on the scene. All participants finished the day with a better understanding of each other's roles in these emergencies and how vital communication is. Below are some pictures from the training, just click on a picture to enlarge it.
